2
COUNCIL MEETING MAY 9, 1994
the residents on the east side of Hodgson Road are interested in
water service, now is the time to connect. The assessment for
those interested in connecting would be approximately $5,400.00.
Construction is anticipated to begin about July 1, 1994. Service
for the west side of Hodgson Road would be considerably more
expensive due to tunneling under Hodgson Road. There were a few
residents from the west side of Hodgson Road who seemed
interested until the costs were explained. Mr. Marcellus asked
if the drainage would be corrected along with this improvement.
Mr. Powell explained that disturbed areas would be corrected but
overall drainage correction to the area was not a part of the
project. Mr. Powell also explained that property owners on the
east side of Hodgson Road would be contacted regarding temporary
and permanent easements for the trunk water main and briefly
explained the process.
Mayor Reinert noted that when construction began on the services
down Linda Avenue there was a lack of communication with the
residents. However because of this matter the contractor has
become more responsive and the residents are very cooperative.
Mr. Powell explained that the trunk sewer work is almost complete
along Linda Avenue and work on the trunk water main will begin
later in the week. He noted that Linda Avenue is passable.
Mr. Powell gave a brief background on the water main project. He
noted that when the Woodridge Estates area was constructed, the
area was connected to the City of Shoreview water system. The
joint powers agreement required that the City of Lino Lakes
provide service to the area in a specified period of time. With
the completion of the water main project along Hodgson Road, the
terms of the joint powers agreement will be completed.
Mr. Powell used the overhead projector and explained the location
of the project. He explained that the project was consistent
with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The project will
eventually be extended and looped up Ware Road or in that area.
The estimated construction cost is $127,915.00 and only Fox Trace
is proposed to be assessed at this time. The area and unit
charges for Fox Trace will be used for the project.
Original plans for this project were prepared in 1989. These
plans will be reviewed and discussed by staff to determine if
they can be used or if they must be redrawn. Construction is
expected to begin in July and bids could be ordered at the next
City Council meeting.
If residents along the east side of Hodgson Road wish to connect
to the trunk water main, assessments will be approximately
$5,400.00. At this time there are no assessments or service
PAGE 5
1
1
