The streets designated for reconstruction are shown in Figure 1. The project includes local streets approximately 32 feet wide with existing bituminous or concrete curb and gutter. The length of the project is approximately 2.0 miles and includes the following streets: • Arrowhead Drive • Chippewa Trail • Rice Ct. • Tomahawk Trail • Arrowhead Ct. • Hokah Drive • Tomahawk Ct • Totem Trail Over the past several years, the city has evaluated the condition of all streets within the City limits, culminating into a Pavement Management Study. The study rates each street and categorizes them into the following three conditions: Problem, Marginal, and Adequate. The streets designated within the project limits are all streets rated as "problem" streets, meaning the condition of the pavement is failing and reconstruction is required. It's prudent when reconstructing roadways to also evaluate the condition of the public utilities within in the roadway corridors. The public utilities in this area include sanitary sewers and storm sewers. During the preliminary design phase, the sanitary sewer mains will be televised and storm sewer system inspected to determine if rehabilitation or replacement will be required. All properties are served by private wells, so there are no water mains currently in this area. A portion of Shenandoah Park is being considered as a possible location. In the most recent election, the city elected to finance this Shenandoah Area Street project through municipal bonds.
