The streets designated for <br />reconstruction are shown in Figure 1. The project includes local streets approximately 32 feet wide with <br />existing bituminous or concrete curb and gutter. The length of the project is approximately 2.0 miles and <br />includes the following streets: <br />• Arrowhead Drive <br />• Chippewa Trail <br />• Rice Ct. <br />• Tomahawk Trail <br />• Arrowhead Ct. <br />• Hokah Drive <br />• Tomahawk Ct <br />• Totem Trail <br />Over the past several years, the city has evaluated the condition of all streets within the City limits, <br />culminating into a Pavement Management Study. The study rates each street and categorizes them into <br />the following three conditions: Problem, <br />Marginal, and Adequate. The streets <br />designated within the project limits are all <br />streets rated as "problem" streets, <br />meaning the condition of the pavement is <br />failing and reconstruction is required. <br />It's prudent when reconstructing roadways <br />to also evaluate the condition of the public <br />utilities within in the roadway corridors. <br />The public utilities in this area include <br />sanitary sewers and storm sewers. During <br />the preliminary design phase, the sanitary <br />sewer mains will be televised and storm <br />sewer system inspected to determine if <br />rehabilitation or replacement will be <br />required. All properties are served by private <br />wells, so there are no water mains currently in this area. <br />Figure 1 <br />A surface water management feature will be needed to meet storm water infiltration requirements for <br />this project as required by the local Watershed Management Organization. A portion of Shenandoah <br />Park is being considered as a possible location. <br />In the most recent election, the city elected to finance this Shenandoah Area Street project through <br />municipal bonds.
