COUNCIL MEETING FEBRUARY 13, 1995 <br />"kick off" for this group will also be the week of March 5, 1995. <br />Mr. Asleson and Mr. Bernstein will talk to the group about what <br />parks and the recreational opportunities are available. A <br />speaker from Anoka County Parks may also be invited to this <br />meeting. On Saturday afternoon, a bus will take this group to <br />visit a couple of other cities (Shoreview and Chaska possibly) to <br />look at what other cities provide for their citizens and to get <br />an idea of the cost of facilities and programs. <br />The third major topic is schools. A group of citizens will look <br />at kindergarten through 12th grade and another group will look at <br />community and continuing education. <br />Ms. Sullivan explained that 20/20 Vision will be successful by <br />keeping 20/20 Vision working once the recommendations are in <br />place. The first step is to make sure that a steering committee <br />who will continue throughout the year, to make sure that project <br />recommendations stay on track. The second step is having a <br />citizens academy each year. One Saturday each year the citizens <br />will be invited to participate in a bus tour and find out what <br />the plans are, how the City is following the recommendations that <br />were made previously and have a sort of "renewal" or town meeting <br />so that citizens can stay informed about the progress. <br />Ms. Sullivan felt that the City Council has offered the <br />opportunity to the citizens to feel a sense of community and the <br />citizens are taking the Council up on this opportunity. <br />There were no questions from the City Council. Ms. Sullivan will <br />keep the City Council updated on the matter. <br />CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 95 - 21 ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM <br />THE CENTENNIAL FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION TO THE LINO LAKES POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT, CHIEF DAVID PECCHIA <br />Chief Pecchia explained that the Centennial Fire Relief <br />Association has donated over $1,000.00 to the Lino Lakes Police <br />Department to be used for the Rice Lake Elementary School Patrol <br />Program. The money will be used to replace the patrol equipment, <br />purchase educational publications and for a patrol recognition <br />day where the elementary patrol members will be taken to a roller <br />skating rink for an afternoon of roller skating. <br />Chief Pecchia recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution <br />No. 95 - 21 thanking the Centennial Fire Relief Association for <br />their generous donation. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to adopt Resolution No. 95 - 21 and <br />dispense with the reading.
