• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION FEBRUARY 21,1996 <br />LEASING OF WATER TOWER SPACE FOR ANTENNAS, DAVID AHRENS, <br />JIM NELSON, AET/MIKE O'ROURKE, APT/JOHN DU BOIS, <br />COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER <br />The Federal government recently enacted legislation that will result in the proliferation of <br />antenna construction for wireless devises. Mr. Jim Nelson and Mr. Mike O'Rourke were <br />present to discuss a request to lease antenna space on the City water towers. Mr. DuBois <br />was present to discuss the preparation of lease agreements for the placement of antennas. <br />Mr. DuBois explained that drafting and implementing an antenna lease program is a <br />complicated process. The City Council must determine which areas of the City are <br />unsuitable for antenna placement and identify areas and structures that would be suitable <br />for antenna construction. In addition, antennas require a safe facility to house the <br />equipment needed to operate the antennas. The purpose of the plan would be to provide more exposure for the City.
