• <br />• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 17,1996 <br />The letter presented by Mr. Houchins asked Council to examine the possibility of <br />constructing such a connection road. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that both Mr. Ahrens and Mr. Powell have talked to the City , <br />of Hugo about this matter and indicated that the City of Lino Lakes was not in favor of <br />the proposal. <br />Mr. Houchins will bring this information to the CAG. <br />ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY BOARD (EAB), MAURINE DAVIDSON <br />Ms. Davidson appeared before the Council in February and was directed to contact other <br />municipalities to see how they handle environmental concerns. Ms. Davidson contacted <br />eight (8) cities and most of them have a forum to consider environmental concerns. <br />However, no city has a separate Environmental Board. <br />Ms. Davidson presented a written outline of her investigation. She noted hat <br />environment groups do not appear to scare developers away. The en , tal groups <br />usually were able to recruit members who have some backgro - iro = ental <br />issues. These groups prepared studies and developed invert at sources <br />considered important to their city. <br />Ms. Davidson noted that presently the E • : is i n; g aws. However, there is still <br />a lot of room for compromise or ch <br />Staff was directed to get i t 1 . ; a art ents and bring the matter to the May 22nd <br />work session. Council - ;y=a r. Asleson and Mr. George Lindy also attend that <br />meeting. <br />LEADERSHIP, UILDING UPDATE, RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />A copy of the Executive Summary of the March 21st Leadership and Team Building <br />retreat has been prepared and will be delivered to the Council on Friday. As a follow-up, <br />staff asked that the following list of items be considered by the Council: <br />- Adopt the three (3) to five (5) Year Goal Program <br />- Consider whether another session should be held in order to update the City's Mission <br />Statement <br />- The Development of Value Statements <br />If the goals established at the Leadership and Team Building retreat are adopted by <br />Council, staff will incorporate them into their department goals and prepare work plans. <br />In addition, a style and behavior analysis (DISC Exercise) will be performed next month. <br />A follow-up with staff who were present at the retreat will be conducted to better <br />understand the motivation and styles of fellow employees.
