COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 22, 1996 <br />Council Member Kuether moved to approve the SECOND READING of Ordinance No. <br />02 - 96 and dispense with the reading. Council Member Bergeson seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried with Council Member Lyden voting no. <br />Ordinance No. 02 - 96 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT, DAVID AHRENS <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 96 - 40, Approving Change Orders 1 and 2 and <br />Approve Payment #5 in the Amount of $16,278.25 and Payment #6 in the Amount of <br />$3,715.00 to E. H. Renner for Well No. 3 - Mr. Ahrens explained that the drilling of <br />Well No. 3 is complete. The contractor, E. H. Renner & Sons, is requesting payment on <br />pay requests Nos. 5 and 6 of the contract that also includes change orders 1 and 2. The <br />final payment by the City will initiate the contractor's one-year warranty period. <br />The final contract costs are summarized as follows: <br />Original Contract Amount <br />Adjustment in Unit Price Items <br />Change Order No. 1 <br />Change Order No. 2 <br />$49,800.00 <br />$ 2,217.50 <br />$11,827.50 <br />$ 9,030.00 <br />TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT $72,875.00 <br />The $2,217.50 adjustment to the unit price items reflects the actual quantities used to drill <br />the well. Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $11,827.50 reflects the cost to add open <br />hole drilling to the contract based on the actual geology encountered during the drilling <br />process. Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $9,030.00 reflects the additional costs to <br />develop the well from 600 gallons per minute to 2,000 gallons per minute. <br />Staff is recommending that Resolution No. 96 - 40 be approved. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked if another contractor is building the well house. Mr. <br />Ahrens said that Sheehy Construction is building the well house. <br />Council Member Bergeson moved to adopt Resolution No. 96 - 40. Council Member <br />Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 96 - 40 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 96 - 41, Approve Plans and Specifications and <br />order Improvement and Advertisement for Bids, Birch Street Trunk Watermain - <br />Mr. Ahrens explained that this project addresses the need for a trunk watermain extension <br />to serve the businesses to be located in the Clearwater Creek Development Center near <br />PAGE 43 <br />
