• <br />• <br />• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 23, 1996 <br />Council Member Kuether asked if vehicles are being parked in this location in connection with <br />school events, or from Miller's. Mr. Ahrens responded that it is his understanding that the <br />overflow is in connection with school events. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to adopt Resolution No. 96 - 127, as presented. Council <br />Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 96 - 127 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 96 - 128 Accepting Bids and Awarding Construction <br />Contract, Centennial Middle School Street and Utility Improvements - Mr. Ahrens <br />explained that sealed bids were received and opened on Thursday, September 12, 1996 for the <br />Centennial Middle School Street and Utility Improvements. Council action is now required to <br />award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />The following bids were received: <br />S. R. R. Weidema, Inc., is currently performing work for the <br />City on the Fourth Avenue Trunk Utility Project, which is near completion. Prior to award of the <br />Fourth Avenue Trunk Utility Project, the City's consulting engineer conducted a reference check <br />on S. R. Weidema, Inc. Based on staff's experience with this company on the Fourth Avenue <br />project and previous review of references, S. R. Weidema, Inc. has proven to be a reputable <br />contractor capable of performing the required work. <br />According to Mr. Ahrens staff is in the process of obtaining right -of -entry agreements from the <br />School District and Mr. Rehbein for the construction of the subject project. Since these <br />agreements have not yet been executed, staff recommended that Council award the contract with <br />that as a contingency. <br />Mr. Ahrens added that the construction costs for this project will be paid by the benefiting <br />property owners along the project length, including the Centennial School District and Mr. Glenn <br />Rehbein. The City's portion of the cost includes the oversizing of trunk utility lines pursuant to <br />
