This same ordinance is also under
consideration in several other suburban communities. If all the metropolitan area adopts
the same or similar pawnshop ordinance, illegal pawnshop activities will be reduced and
articles circulating through pawnshops will be easier to trace.
Chief Pecchia presented a brief outline of the proposed ordinance. He noted that this
ordinance is much more comprehensive and restrictive than the City's current ordinance.
Chief Pecchia will finalize the ordinance and bring it back to the next work session.
ASHLAND GAS STATION, DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE ONTO LAKE DRIVE
DAVID AHRENS
Mr. Ahrens presented a map showing the location of the proposed Ashland Gas Station at
the corner of Lilac Street and Lake Drive. However, since this has not happened, staff is
responding to Ms. Hansmann's request as best they can. Staff also noted that the entrance
to Village Drive will be relocated in the future or a frontage road will be designed.
Ms. Hansmann asked Council to make some concessions for her development. Council
discussed this matter with staff and Ms. Hansmann. Mr. Wessel was directed to take this
matter to EDAAB tomorrow morning and to meet with other property owners in this area.
If a mutually satisfactory solution is proposed, the matter can be added to the agenda on
Monday evening. At this time, the Council consensus is that no driveways should be
permitted between I -35W and the realigned Lilac Street/Apollo Drive intersection.
PAGE 3
