COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />PARK GOALS, GEORGE LINDY <br />JANUARY 22, 1997 <br />The Park Board and staff have prepared a list of goals for 1997. The Council was given a <br />copy of this list and another list outlining other issues to be addressed by the Park Board. <br />Mr. Lindy explained that each year the Park Board meets with the City Council to discuss <br />proposals for construction of new parks, upgrading park equipment and funding of those <br />items. He also outlined the dollar balance in the Dedicated Park Fund and how these <br />funds are used. Construction of trails has been the highest priority for use of this fund. <br />Mr. Lindy also noted that this fund has been nearly depleted over the past several years <br />due to the reduction in development. <br />This matter was brought before the Council for discussion only at this time. The Park <br />Board will be reviewing and refining this list at their next meeting in February. This discussion will be continued at another work <br />session. <br />TRAILS GRANT, MARTY ASLESON <br />Mr. Asleson presented a map of trails in the City and noted areas that need connecting <br />trails. He is in the process of applying for a grant to cover the costs of some of the <br />connecting trails. The grant application requires the approval and involvement of this <br />community. Funding for the grant looks very positive. <br />• Mr. Asleson outlined the requirement for matching funding by the City.
