COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 9,1999
• DISCUSS WEST BALD EAGLE BOULEVARD SANITARY SEWER REQUEST
JOHN POWELL
Mr. Powell distributed copies of a letter he received from several residents living near the
north end of Bald Eagle Lake. The letter states that the City of Hugo is in the process of
extending sanitary sewer west on 129th Street in Hugo. The sewer line will end
approximately 300 - 400 feet from West Bald Eagle Boulevard in Lino Lakes. The
residents are requesting that Lino Lakes enter into an agreement with Hugo to extend the
utility into Lino Lakes so that they can connect to the service.
Mr. Powell has briefly looked at the request and feels that such a project would be cost
prohibitive.
Council discussed the matter with the residents who were present. One resident has to
update their septic system because they have added more bedrooms to their home. This
resident felt that since the utility was near, water quality in Bald Eagle Lake would be
improved if all the residents connected to sanitary sewer.
Mr. Powell outlined the petitioning process as required by t and State
Statutes. Council asked the residents to prepare a formal ti i tain signatures
form 51% of the people living in the area to be sere a ed sewer utility.
Following a neighborhood meeting, if there st . r proceeding with the project,
staff will bring the matter back to the Council ` eview.
The City of Lino Lakes will send e o the next Bald Eagle Lake
Association meeting where th .e he discussion of water quality in Bald Eagle
Lake. This meeting will b - ptem s er.
502 LONESO I E IL FENCE CONSTRUCTION, JOHN POWELL
Council was given . The Becken's request was denied because the City has a
drainage pipe underground within the easement and City personnel must be able to access
this pipe in the event of an emergency.
Council discussed this matter with Ms. Becken and Mr. Powell. Council Members will
look at the Becken's lot and the neighborhood and discuss this matter prior to the June
14th Council meeting.
