CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 3, 2000 <br />HIGHWAY 49 STATE AID ROAD RECONSTRUCTION, JEFF O'DONNELL <br />Council Member O'Donnell advised he has received several calls from residents asking <br />for more information regarding this project. He suggested the residents attend the <br />Council work session to obtain more information. <br />Mr. Jeff Heaser, 218 Aggregate Lane, came forward and inquired about the information <br />the City currently has. <br />Staff reviewed the background of the project noting the City does not have the most <br />current information. <br />Mr. Brian Thorson, 6013 Hodgson Road, came forward and asked how the City feels <br />about the project. <br />The City Engineer advised the City Council does have approval of the project. However, <br />it is a County project that entails three (3) projects. <br />Mr. Heaser asked if the City could deny approval for two ( s - p while <br />approving one part of the project. Staff advised the Cou 1 r st the County <br />only construct a portion of the full project if they so r St.' ed nothing has been <br />passed out yet to the City from the County. Staff <br />advised the two (2 s 'e e discussing their options. <br />Mr. Thorson asked a ° gut the benefit to the City if the project is completed. He stated <br />everyone in the City wants improvement but does not want Lino Lakes to look like St. <br />Paul. He stated the project would add more traffic. He also disputed that the County <br />used a counter to measure the current traffic. <br />Ms. Lynn Ann Heaser, 218 Egret Lane, came forward and stated she was unable to attend <br />the public meeting. She stated she has run petitions and everyone she has talked to felt <br />the public meeting was negative. She stated she has done a lot of research and talked to <br />the County. She also stated she has video taped the traffic at peak hours and does not <br />believe it is congested. She provided pictures of other traffic problems within the Twin <br />Cities. She stated the project makes no sense and is much too massive. <br />Mr. Thorson requested the Council stays on top of the project and keep residents <br />informed. <br />4 <br />
