CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 7, 2000 <br />the County Road J intersection is an issue. A study will be conducted as part of the <br />project to determine if the intersection meets the criteria needs to install a signal light. <br />The money for the project comes from State Aid, which is not a regular road fund. The <br />minor arterial system in place is put together regionally. Mr. Olson defined the term <br />"turn back" money and the procedure in place to utilize the money. Highway 49 has been <br />part of the County transportation plan for 17 years. <br />Mr. Olson concluded his presentation by stating the County can do less. The County can <br />also do nothing. The project is about what is right for the County's transportation system. <br />He noted the intent of the 13 million dollars is to cover the project from County Road J to <br />35W. Any excess funds will hopefully be used for the interchange at 35W. He state the <br />lake does have any impact on the project. However, the road is intended to serve a larger <br />area than the City of Lino Lakes. <br />Mr. Olson advised the City has the authority to stop the project. If the County upgrades <br />the road using the additional funds, it will be a four -(4) lane road. He s ; will <br />construct the road as directed by the County. He stated his job is to <br />transportation system. Council is making good progress and will continue to <br />work through the Plan. <br />EASEMENT ENCROACHMENT REQUEST, 6471 KINGFISHER COURT, JOHN <br />POWELL <br />Staff distributed a letter received from Paul and Jacquie O'Fallon. The letter is <br />requesting a revision to their original request of an easement and variance for the above <br />ground pool. Mr. and Mrs. O'Fallon indicate they are willing to compromise and move <br />4 <br />
