CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 21, 2000 <br />Council Member Carlson asked if there is a way for the City to encourage the County to <br />put in the Mallard Lane trail. Staff advised the County has indicated they will work with <br />the City. However, the Council has advised they will not provide funding for either trail <br />option. <br />Council Member O'Donnell inquired about the County's willingness to connect the trail <br />once it is developed. Staff advised the County is willing to connect the trail. <br />It was the consensus of Council to direct staff to contact the Homeowners Association <br />regarding the trail proposal. <br />SNO BARON, JEFF SMYSER <br />Staff distributed a memo regarding additional information that was requested by the <br />Council at the May 17, 2000, Council work session. The memo included information <br />regarding traffic concerns, conditional use permits, additional structures ay be <br />added to the site and comments from surrounding communities. <br />Council Member Dahl asked if the proposed site is zoned a or Staff <br />advised the site is not densely populated. The area is m <br />Council Member Carlson inquired about the pos ib ty of e c nection from 80`h Street <br />to the freeway. Staff advised a connection ti t ty's plan but is a very low <br />priority. The traffic counts on the road . - advised they concur with the <br />Police Department's recommendatio R n port the traffic increase in the area. <br />Mr. John Weber, Representa <br />about the stadium rumor <br />Mayor Bergeson <br />it is not a serio <br />o arons Club, came forward and inquired <br />as been some talk about a stadium in that area. However, <br />s point. <br />Mr. Weber state. are interested in the location. There are been many discussions <br />with staff. If the Council is not supportive there is no reason to move forward. <br />Mayor Bergeson advised the City does regulate activities on properties. The City does <br />not however, regulate who owns properties. At this point, staff is recommending against <br />the proposal. <br />Council Member O'Donnell asked if the event would continue to be held in the current <br />location. <br />Mr. Weber advised they would continue to hold Hay Days in the current location. <br />However, the site will eventually not be viable and will continue to cause traffic <br />congestion. <br />3 <br />
