CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 19, 2000 <br />Mr. Carlson advised the trail placement was discussed at the Planning and Zoning Board <br />meeting and neighborhood meeting. All four (4) affected residents asked that the trail be <br />moved. He stated he offered to put in a buffer but moving the trail would be easier. <br />Mayor Bergeson suggested the trail and easement be combined. <br />Council Member Dahl advised she was in favor of this project with a cul-de-sac. <br />The City Engineer advised a cul-de-sac on the north would result in a 3/4 mile long cul-de- <br />sac. A cul-de-sac on the south end would result in confusion for drivers. A sign could be <br />put up indicating it is not a through street. Both placements are equally undesirable. He <br />stated he is concerned about another long cul-de-sac similar to the one in Colonial <br />Woods. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated the cul-de-sac should be put on the south end. The north end <br />should be constructed so the streets meet. The south end could then be when the <br />road continues through to 62nd Street. <br />Council Member Reinert inquired about a mechanism that in ale to continue <br />the road in the future. <br />The City Engineer advised he would ask for Co <br />factor. The <br />Council Member ert stated he does not believe the residents will object to a time <br />frame based on future development. <br />Council Member Dahl requested the residents in Birchwood Acres be invited to the <br />neighborhood meeting. <br />HIGHWAY 49 PROJECT, JEFF REINERT <br />Council Member Reinert advised he believes the Council needs to determine what should <br />happen with the Highway 49 project. Once the Council makes a determination, a meeting <br />should be held with the two (2) involved Counties and officials from the City of <br />Shoreview. <br />7 <br />
