CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION FEBRUARY 7, 2001 <br />Council Member O'Donnell asked about the density in the plan. Mr. Goertz stated the <br />density with the townhomes is 2.1 units per acre. <br />TOWN CENTER UPDATE, BRIAN WESSEL <br />Livable Community Grant, Carolyn Krull — Staff advised an update will be given <br />regarding the meeting with the Livable Communities Grant Committee held on January <br />25, 2001. Staff requested funding from the original grant be used for the Economic <br />Feasibility Study. The Committee indicated funds from the original grant can be used for <br />the study. Staff also requested the condition that had to do with land acquisition for <br />rental units be removed. The Committee removed the condition and gave the City the <br />latitude to work with infrastructure and potential land write down relating to a mixed-use <br />plan. Mr. Miller <br />came forward and read his letter to the Council that requested help from them to resolve <br />the problem of Molin Concrete. He stated the problems include early morning beepers <br />and the conditions of their permit. He reviewed the background of the project, <br />complaints from neighbors, promises made by the company and issues raised in previous <br />meetings. He pointed out that the zoning change to allow the company was a big <br />compromise for the residents. The letter also indicated that noise is a huge problem in the <br />neighborhood. He stated the problem can be eliminated and the requirements of OSHA <br />still met. He stated he wants to resolve the problem and suggested the company start their <br />work 2'/z hours later. <br />Council Member Carlson suggested a higher berm be placed in the neighborhood. Mr. <br />Miller stated it has been determined that a berm will not help eliminate the noise. <br />
