• <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 18, 2001 <br />Public Services Director DeGardner stated the park dedication fees are minimal to the <br />cost of an athletic complex. He stated staff would like to look at the feasibility of <br />including current park needs in the referendum for the complex. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated he is concerned about the bond issue. He indicated he has heard a <br />lot of complaints about the school referendum. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner stated the City may need to consider referendums for <br />both streets and an athletic complex when scheduling the referendums. <br />City Engineer Powell added the current schedule includes a referendum for streets this <br />year. <br />Council Member O'Donnell stated the City needs to try a referendum for the complex <br />even if it fails. The referendum should include dollars for current. , s and trails. The <br />complex is very important and a time needs to be determined f a,the r rendum, <br />preferably sooner than later. <br />Council Member Carlson stated passing a referendum a eas if the City already <br />has some dollars set aside for the complex. She ex res co co Q regarding dropping <br />the commercial/industrial park dedication fees. there will be more parks <br />benefit to that type of development as more c R to t City. She suggested asking for <br />volunteers and donations wit he athletic complex. <br />Council directed staff . :sward with the revisions to the Park Dedication fee to <br />include a public hearin _ . t t - May 14, 2001, City Council meeting. <br />City Planner Smyser advised the cut off for the new park dedication fee is approval of the <br />preliminary plat. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner asked the Council to consider the timing of an <br />athletic complex referendum when determining any referendum for the upcoming <br />election. <br />Mayor Bergeson advised this issue will be further discussed at the goal setting meeting. <br />
