He inquired about the appropriate staff member to direct any questions <br />relating to the report. <br />City Engineer Powell advised all questions should be directed through Finance Director Al Rolek. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAVE PECCHIA <br />Proclamation for Police Week 2001, Kurt Rausch — Sergeant Rausch advised Police Week was <br />designed to recognize the service given by the men and women who, night and day, selflessly stand <br />guard in our communities to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow Americans. On October <br />1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 of each year as Peace Officers' Memorial <br />Day and the calendar week of each year during which such May 15 oc as Police Week. <br />Staff is requesting that Council acknowledge and read the procl <br />13 to May 19, 2001, as Police Week, and May 15 as Peace O <br />Lino Lakes. <br />Sergeant Rausch read the proclamation in full. <br />pport of designating May <br />rial Day in the City of <br />Mayor Bergeson referred to paragraph 4, senten- 1 of e proclamation and requested the sentence <br />be changed to "We, the City of Lino Lakes <br />Council Member Reinert moved to aice Week Proclamation 2001, as amended. <br />Council Member O'Donnell secon= moi gin. He reviewed the bid amounts noting the low bid for the new truck, after trade, is <br />$224,713. from General Safety. <br />The Steering Committee meeting held on April 19, 2001 did not have a quorum; therefore, staff is <br />asking each City Council to approve awarding the bid to General Safety. General Safety's bid was <br />significantly lower and meets all the specifications. <br />The funds for this purchase are part of the Fire District's Capital Equipment Plan and will be in the <br />bank account by the deliver day of the new truck in January 2002. <br />Fire Chief Bennett referred to an outline of a presentation that was made to the Fire District Steering <br />Committee that includes a few more details. <br />3 <br />
