CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 6, 2001 <br />Council Member O'Donnell asked if the owner is open to additional landscaping. City <br />Planner Smyser advised additional landscaping is a possibility. <br />It was the consensus of the Council to put this item on the Planning and Zoning Board <br />agenda Wednesday, June 13, 2001. <br />CSAH 49 RECONSTRUCTION UPDATE, JOHN POWELL <br />City Engineer Powell advised he met with County and State representative's two (2) <br />weeks ago. The State Aid Office is supportive of a "contact sensitive roadway". <br />MnDOT did do a speed study that was not supportive of a speed reduction on the <br />roadway. If the road is designed to have the appearance of a 45 -mph speed limit, <br />MnDOT will work to get that particular speed approved. The design and amenities of the <br />roadway would then be designated for 45 mph. This process would require that the City <br />is a partner in the project design and financial aspects. There are S Aid Funds <br />available. MnDOT would have to be included in the entire pro. ss so i ey can request <br />the 45 -mph speed limit. City Engineer Powell stated input from the residents is needed before a design <br />can be submitted. He stated neighborhood meetings will be held in late June or early <br />July. The process will begin with a list of what the residents feel is desirable along the <br />roadway. <br />Council Member Carlson stated the process needs to be extended to Elm Street.
