CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 8, 2001 <br />Council Member Dahl inquired about the park dedication fee. Community Development <br />Director Grochala advised there will be one fee for the entire development. <br />Economic Development Director Wessel stated a productive meeting was held on <br />Tuesday regarding the JADT negotiation. A re-evaluation of the property will have to be <br />done. He reviewed the McDonald's project noting the building is a retro design. <br />Council Member Reinert asked if the City has received the bottom line from Ryan and if <br />the City should make a counter offer. Economic Development Director Wessel stated he <br />believes the City has received the bottom line from Ryan and the City could make a <br />counter offer. <br />Council Member Reinert stated he has a problem with an eight -(8) year abatement, $1.4 <br />million dollars, and $70,000 of existing tax base. He stated that at this point, that is too <br />much for the City. <br />Council Member Carlson indicated she agrees with Council M 'ber nert. An eight - <br />(8) year abatement is really fourteen years. Those dollars an .Ie=.d fo_''other things. <br />The Council needs to know what the City has committed in�e �a�e. <br />City Administrator Waite Smith stated staff is puttipg teeth ` ew Five -Year Plan that <br />includes infrastructure and road reconstruction. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated staff could provide i orma n relating to financial commitments <br />the City has already made. <br />City Engineer Powell noted the C' • ' " f tted $1 million for the interchange in <br />2006. <br />Council Member Reinert <br />being asked for $1.4 .sllion <br />the background of ho <br />financial request. <br />ification on how the City got in the position of <br />s. The City does have a development team for <br />the City owned portion of the project that will include design standards. An application <br />will be submitted in September 2001. <br />6 <br />
