COUNCIL MINUTES
Motion carried unanimously.
FEBRUARY 11, 2002
Mayor Bergeson noted the special vote on the referendum is Saturday, April 27, 2002, 7:00 a.m. to
8:00 p.m.
Councilmember Dahl clarified that the City's web site is now running. The information regarding the
referendum will not be available until February 22.
Resolution No. 02 —14 can be found in the City Clerk's office.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT
Resolution No. 02 — 06, Amendment to CUP, Gethsemane Chug
Community Development Director Grochala advised the subject pope
a conditional use within the R-3 District.
ichael Grochala —
zoned R-3. The maximum total square
e for a lot of this size is limited to 2,020 sq. ft.
There are currently two deta ed accessory buildings on the property: an 8' X 10' tool shed and a 24'
X 30' detached garage. The c struction of the proposed picnic shelter would result in three detached
accessory structures, one more than is allowed under City Ordinance.
The total square footage of the existing two accessory buildings is 800 sq. ft. The proposed picnic
shelter would measure 1,380 sq. ft. (30' X 46'), resulting in a total accessory square footage of 2,180
sq. ft. This is 160 sq. ft. more than is allowed under City Ordinance.
Construction of the proposed picnic shelter would violate the City's Zoning Ordinance in terms of
both number and size of accessory structures. Removing the 8' X 10" existing tool shed, and
decreasing the size of the proposed picnic shelter by 80 sq. ft. are options to resolving this zoning
issue. It should be noted that the City's Zoning Ordinance reaches a cap, or threshold level, of 2,020,
sq. ft. for accessory buildings in ANY size lot of one and one-quarter acre or greater in an R-3 zone.
6
•
