COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 22, 2002 The agenda was approved as amended. CONSENT AGENDA Councilmember O'Donnell moved to approve the Consent Agenda, as presented. Councilmember Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. ITEM DISBURSEMENTS: April 22, 2002 (Check No. 64777- 64906, $329,179.48) ACTION Approved Centennial Fire District (Check No. 13171 13195, $55.616.03) App OPEN MIKE American Cancer Society (June 21, 2002, Relay-fo t Centennial High), Amy Countryman - Ms. Countryman came forward and stated this is • - econ season she has worked on the Relay - for -Life event in the Centennial area. The Relay- r -Lr is a community event that raised over $5 million dollars last year. She stated the event •11 . d on June 21, 2002, at Centennial High School. She explained what the program is, g the events that will be held. She also stated that this year's event is the 5th annual event in ` 'al area. Another volunteer, Shelly, cam forward and stated she lives in Lino Lakes and works in the Centennial School District. She ated everyone should get involved. She indicated she lost her father to cancer and she wants to raise money for something that has touched everyone. She stated Relay -for -Life is a real family event and everyone can get involved. She distributed a brochure that includes information on how to participate and how to enter a team into the event. The Centennial High School also has team packets available. Councilmember Carlson asked how many participants were involved in last year's event. Ms. Countryman stated there were 350 participants last year. This year's goal is 480 participants. The volunteers encouraged everyone who participates to spend the whole night. They thanked the Council for their time.
