JOINT COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 17 2002 <br />Councilmember Broussard -Vickers stated the no wake zone should be continued for the <br />birds and plant preservation. She indicated the plant preservation is the reason <br />Centerville did not put a sunset clause in the ordinance. She asked that the Lino Lakes <br />Council revisit this issue so the no wake zone is not terminated. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated it is the intent of the Council to look at the no wake zone with <br />plenty of time to determine whether or not it should be extended. <br />Councilmember Nelson stated she would like more education about the rules and fines <br />regarding the island and lake use. <br />Environmental Specialists Asleson stated there are some residents that are reporting <br />things to the DNR. <br />Mayor Bergeson asked if staff feels the island has adequate s <br />Environmental Specialist Asleson stated the signs are ve d he will raise that <br />issue with the DNR. <br />Councilmember Carlson stated Lino Lakes shoul• s item on the agenda very early <br />in the year to let people know the City is very se '. + s a . ° t this issue. <br />Councilmember Reinert stated he thinks pew ~ . alize the City is serious about this <br />issue and two years is plenty of time to re, the ordinance. <br />It was the consensus of the Lino L. The program works toward preserving the history <br />of cities for future generatio <br />Councilmember Capra advised a booklet was distributed that provides some historical <br />information and information about the program itself. Currently, there is no liaison <br />involved with the program from the City of Lino Lakes. She asked that the City put out <br />information on cable and in the newspaper so a liaison can be appointed. <br />Councilmember Capra presented the Lino Lakes Council with the first photo of the <br />Cardinal Family Farm taken in 1960. She stated a good liaison from Lino Lakes will be a <br />great asset to the program. She stated that in year 2007 there will be a 150 year <br />celebration for the Centerville Township and asked that both cities participate. <br />
