CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 17, 2002 Councilmember Reinert suggested there be something in the plat to state that homes must be at a reasonable elevation due to flooding concerns and insurance. Community Development Director referred to page 5 of the staff report regarding the floodplain issue and requirement of the developer. City Planner Smyser advised a condition regarding the floodplain can be added as a condition of approval. Councilmember Carlson stated she would like traffic accident incident information for the past two years on Birch Street. Community Development Director Grochala advised based on the findings contained in the staff report and analysis, staff is recommending approvthe applications based on conditions outlined in the staff report. Community Development Director Grochala stated nothing will happen on the project until the Metropolitan Council approves the Comprehensive Plan. He stated he does not believe there will be any additional pressure to get the Comprehensive Plan approved if this project is approved. Community Development Director Grochala added that Mr. Lou Masonic, resident, called him regarding on-site septic systems. He indicated there is no issue with septics leaking and seeping into the environment because of this project.
