COUNCIL MINUTES <br />AUGUST 12, 2002 <br />Base Bid Alternate Bid <br />Glenn Rehbein Excavating, Inc. $89,385.00 $20,000 <br />Public Services Director DeGardner indicated since the engineer's estimate was $88,350, and because <br />Glenn Rehbein Excavating, Inc. is a local, reputable company, staff is recommending receiving the <br />bid and awarding the Highland Meadows Park Development Phase 1 Project to Glenn Rehbein <br />Excavating, Inc. with a base bid in the amount of $89,385.00. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner advised funding for this project is the Dedicated Parks Fund. <br />The development of Highland Meadows Park was a component of the Park Board's 2002 Goals <br />totaling $199,200. This amount consists of park dedication dollars derived from the following: <br />Bluebill Ponds Development <br />$81,075 <br />Highland Meadows West - 3rd Addition $94,725 <br />VFW Donations for Playground Equipment $23,400 <br />Public Services Director DeGardner advised City staffreco <br />bids and award the Highland Meadows Park Development <br />Excavating, Inc. with a base bid in the amount of $89,38: <br />Councilmember Reinert moved to receive the bids <br />Development Phase 1 Project to Glenn Rehbein <br />$89,385.00. Several na a ze`s area around the perimeter of the park will consist of various <br />types of seed mixtures including mesic prairie, wet-mesic prairie, and savanna. The Environmental <br />Board has reviewed the landscap g plan for the Highland Meadows Park Project and concurs with <br />the proposed plantings and seed mixtures. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner indicated 14 sets of quote packages were sent out. The bid <br />opening was conducted on August 8, 2002. Two bids were submitted as follows: <br />Hoffman & McNamara <br />MNLand, Inc. <br />$42,616.00 <br />$68,625.00 <br />Public Services Director DeGardner advised City staff recommends that the City Council receive the <br />bids and award the Highland Meadows Park Development — Landscaping Project to Hoffman & <br />McNamara with a base bid in the amount of $42,616.00. As with the previous agenda item, the <br />funding source for this project is the Dedicated Parks Fund. <br />14 <br />
