CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 4, 2002 Councilmember Reinert stated another issue is that one of the entrances is so far into Ware Road. Community Development Director Grochala stated two accesses into the site are needed. The City does not want a staggered entrance on the north end and the south entrance is pushed as far back from Birch Street as possible to avoid stacking. Councilmember Carlson asked what other types of businesses are being proposed on the site. Mr. Goertz stated he has had proposals for a bank with a drive through, two coffee retailers, a liquor store and a day spa. Councilmember Carlson stated the liquor store concerns he «ung with the amount of tobacco sales at the store due to the close proximity of the sc Mr. Mateer stated he has worked very hard in the past feeduce the dependency of the store on tobacco sales. Councilmember O'Donnell asked if there would 1 .si ewalk on Ware Road. Mr. Goertz indicated there will be a sidewalk n o side of Ware Road and he is working with staff to construct a bike path l oto' r side of the roadway. Councilmember Carlson stated it conc at the City has no say over what type of businesses are developed within the Community Development Direated staff needs to know what exactly the concerns of the Council are in 'e.•n w. a ervice station at that site. Councilmember Carlson eni g needs to be addressed before Council takes action on this item. Councilmember Reinert stated he is also concerned about traffic. Mr. William (?), an employee of Glen Rehbein, came forward and reviewed the drainage plan noting no water will cross the roadway. He also reviewed the landscaping plan noting that there will be extensive screening and buffering. Councilmember Carlson suggested a neighborhood meeting be held to address the concerns of the residents. Councilmember O'Donnell inquired about the hours of delivery at the store.
