COUNCIL MINUTES JULY 28, 2003
APPROVED
96 City Administrator Linda Waite Smith advised that Police Officer Nabil Gubash has submitted his
io97 resignation from the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department to pursue other interests. She noted
98 Officer Gubash was still a probationary employee, which indicates he has been with the city for less
99 than a year.
100
101 Councilmember Dahl moved to accept the resignation of Officer Gubash. Councilmember O'Donnell
102 seconded the motion.
103
104 Motion carried unanimously.
105
106 B. Acceptance of Utility Billing Clerk Resignation/Retirement
107
108 City Administrator Linda Waite Smith advised that Celine Syfko, a part-time Utility Billing Clerk has
109 resigned her position with the city. She indicated since the funding for this position comes from
110 utility funds and not the general fund, they have begun the search for a replacement.
111
112 Councilmember Carlson moved to accept the resignation of Celine Syfko. Councilmember
113 O'Donnell seconded the motion.
114
115 Motion carried unanimously.
116
117 C. Acceptance of City Administrator Resignation
118
119 Mayor Bergeson indicated it is with regret that he reports the resignation of City Administrator Waite
•120 Smith. He thanked her for her years of service and wished her well as she moves on to a new City
121 Administrator position in the City of Jordan.
122
123 City Administrator Waite Smith commented she wanted to make it clear she loves Lino Lakes, but it
124 is three hours too far from her home, while Jordan is only 10 minutes.
125
126 Councilmember Reinert moved, with regret, to accept the resignation of Linda Waite Smith.
127 Councilmember Dahl seconded the motion.
128
129 Councilmember Dahl concurred with the Mayor's comments in saying thank you for everything Ms.
130 Waite Smith has done. She stated Ms. Waite Smith came to Lino Lakes about the same time she
131 came into office, and was always helpful in answering questions as Councilmember Dahl learned her
132 role. She asked for clarification on the date of separation, as she was of the understanding it would be
133 mid-September.
134
135 City Administrator Waite Smith indicated her employment agreement calls for a 60 -day notice, which
136 would be September 10. She indicated there are several things to handle before then, including the
137 budget and four labor contracts, so the agreement made is that she can leave, but will come back to
138 assist with these issues, as well as help to recruit a replacement.
139
140 Councilmember Dahl indicated she has two reports on this, and one states that Dan Tesch will be the
141 interim City Administrator until a replacement is found. City Administrator Waite Smith advised a
142 resolution will be brought to the last City Council meeting she attends to appoint a replacement.
•143
3
