COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 8, 2004 <br />APPROVED <br />97 the first trail is by Lamont Park, close to Lino Lakes. He commented that the trail areas of Centerville <br />• 98 and Lino Lakes are much intertwined. He stated there is currently a trail in Hugo, and a nice trail in <br />99 the Chain of Lakes Park. He indicated the intention is for the trails to connect to Minneapolis, <br />100 providing a trail from Minneapolis to Duluth. He stated there is a small piece missing, which is the <br />101 area they are working on. <br />102 <br />103 Mr. LeBlanc showed the Council the overall plan, noting that in 1998 a design team came to <br />104 Centerville and sparked this activity. He explained Anoka County has it on their plans to circle <br />105 Centerville with trails; however a pedestrian bridge is needed over the freeway. He stated the only <br />106 other alternative is to cross a terrible intersection. He noted on the last page of his handouts the areas <br />107 of the grant application are marked in yellow. He stated it is not a lot of area, but includes a very <br />108 expensive pedestrian bridge. He added their application offered an alternative if the County Road 14 <br />109 re -direct goes through. He stated he appreciates any feedback. <br />110 <br />111 Councilmember Carlson indicated the City Council would like to extend their support and best <br />112 wishes to the Centennial Cougars High School Boys Hockey Team. She advised they won in Section <br />113 4 over Hill -Murray, and will be in the State Hockey Tournament for the first time at noon on <br />114 Thursday. <br />115 <br />116 John DeHaven, 1612 Birch Street addressed the Council concerning the speed limit on Birch Street. <br />117 He stated he has discussed this before, and was told the issue was handled, however Mn/Dot has <br />118 never received a letter from the City. He indicated Mn/Dot has said they will do a speed zone study if <br />119 Lino Lakes sends them a letter, and he was told by staff it was sent. He stated he left his name and <br />20 address to get a copy of the letter, but never received it because the City never sent one. <br />W1121 <br />122 Community Development Director Grochala advised the letter was sent to Anoka County, and in his <br />123 conversations he was of the understanding it would be forwarded to Mn/Dot. <br />124 <br />125 Mr. Dehaven stated he wants a copy of the letter. <br />126 <br />127 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK <br />128 <br />129 There was none. <br />130 <br />131 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br />132 <br />133 A. Consider FIRST READING of Ordinance No. 05-04, Amending Liquor Code Relating <br />134 to Strong Beer, Ann Blair <br />135 <br />136 City Clerk Blair summarized the Staff report, indicating Staff recommends approval of the first <br />137 reading. <br />138 <br />139 Councilmember Dahl noted as a suggestion that if they are making amendments to the liquor code, <br />140 they also look at raising fees.
