CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 7, 2004 <br />APPROVED <br />1 Mr. Dvorak reviewed the recommended design options for the three segments noting the <br />• 2 traffic studies suggest that further roadway improvements beyond the reconstruction of <br />3 CSAH 14 will be needed in the future. <br />4 <br />5 Mr. Dvorak advised the County is looking for support of the project and some type of <br />6 envisioning in the future to take the full —build -out into consideration when planning <br />7 development in that area. He noted that if the plan were approved in September 2005, <br />8 construction on the project would be in the spring of 2006. <br />9 <br />10 Community Development Director Grochala advised the action for Monday night is <br />11 approving Resolution No. 04 — 100, adopting the Anoka County CSAH Alternative <br />12 Analysis Study. <br />13 <br />14 This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, July 12, 2005, 6:30 p.m. <br />15 <br />16 PINE STREET PAVING PROJECT, JIM STUDENSKI <br />17 <br />18 City Engineer Studenski advised the City has received a petition from residents and <br />19 property owners on Pine Street to pave Pine Street from Lake Drive to 4th Street. Pine <br />20 Street is currently a gravel road that is shared between Columbus Township and Lino <br />21 Lakes. The Town Engineer for Columbus Township produced a preliminary estimate for <br />22 a 24 -foot rural street with 3 inches of bituminous. The total project cost estimate from <br />23 Lake Drive to the west end of Pine Street was $471,300.00, <br />24 <br />25 City Engineer Studenski stated a joint neighborhood meeting was held on June 29, 2004. <br />26 A final consensus was not reached at that time. A letter will be sent out detailing the <br />27 project scope and cost to the residents. The letter will request a response from them to <br />28 help in the decision of continuing the process for paving the road. That information will <br />29 then be brought back to the Council for consideration. <br />30 <br />31 CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT #12 UPDATE, SUPERINTENDENT JOHN <br />32 CHRISTIANSEN <br />33 <br />34 Mr. Christiansen advised he is present this evening to update the Council on activities <br />35 related to the School District. He distributed and reviewed a Centennial School District <br />36 No. 12 District Profile noting the School District is in a good position to handle future <br />37 growth within the City. He commented on current and future challenges, enrollment <br />38 numbers and general fund revenue comparisons. He also explained how state aid and <br />39 operating levies are calculated based on each student. <br />40 <br />41 Councilmember Stoltz stated it would be beneficial for the City and the School District to <br />42 work collaboratively. He suggested Mayor Bergeson or a Councilmember attend a <br />43 School Board meeting to provide a City update. He expressed concern relating to the <br />44 challenge of attracting and retaining high quality staff. <br />45 <br />46 Mr. Christiansen advised the School Board has not yet determined a referendum amount <br />47 or the referendum questions.
