CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 18, 2005 APPROVED • 1 2 Community Development Director Grochala requested Council direction regarding this 3 process and what the Council's expectations are for the development project review. 4 5 The Council indicated the developer could begin to schedule neighborhood meetings. 6 The Council also indicated community input and support, especially in terms of the 147 7 homes per year, is very important and must be included in this process. 8 9 PARADE FLOAT, MARY DIVINE 10 11 Economic Development Coordinator Divine distributed pictures of the float currently 12 being used by the Blue Heron royalty. She stated staff has located one used trailer that 13 could be purchased for $2,300. She requested Council authorization for a total of $5,000 14 to purchase the trail and supplies and decorations for the float. 15 16 It was the consensus of Council to authorize the $5,000 expenditure to purchase and 17 decorate a parade trailer. 18 19 Economic Development Coordinator Divine added the Anoka County Historical Society 20 is willing to put up a City of Lino Lakes display in the lobby of City Hall in honor of the 21 City's 50t Anniversary. The Historical Society is also willing to have a booth at Blue 22 Heron Days. She suggested the City sell some sort of commemorative item at the booth. S 23 24 Council directed staff to move forward with a City of Lino Lakes display, booth and 25 commemorative items at Blue Heron Days. 26 27 Mayor Bergeson called for a short break at 9:50 p.m. 28 29 Mayor Bergeson reconvened the meeting at 9:58 p.m. 30 31 COMPLAINT RELATED TO VFW BUILDING, MICHAEL GROCHALA 32 33 Community Development Director Grochala advised the City received a written 34 complaint related to the VFW building project. He referred to a copy of the complaint 35 dated May 6, 2005. 36 37 Community Development Director Grochala advised staff is looking into the complaint 38 and addressing the issues. Staff is looking at additional screening to address the noise 39 issues and helicopter issue. The complaint regarding the parking lot and garbage will be 40 resolved when construction is completed. 41 42 Community Development Director Grochala indicated staff would be drafting a letter to 43 the VFW regarding these issues. The letter will include a date that all outstanding issues 44 must be resolved by, or the City will take action. 45 • 46 LAND PURCHASE INQUIRY, GORDON HEITKE 47
