CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 18, 2005 <br />APPROVED <br />• 1 <br />2 Community Development Director Grochala requested Council direction regarding this <br />3 process and what the Council's expectations are for the development project review. <br />4 <br />5 The Council indicated the developer could begin to schedule neighborhood meetings. <br />6 The Council also indicated community input and support, especially in terms of the 147 <br />7 homes per year, is very important and must be included in this process. <br />8 <br />9 PARADE FLOAT, MARY DIVINE <br />10 <br />11 Economic Development Coordinator Divine distributed pictures of the float currently <br />12 being used by the Blue Heron royalty. She stated staff has located one used trailer that <br />13 could be purchased for $2,300. She requested Council authorization for a total of $5,000 <br />14 to purchase the trail and supplies and decorations for the float. <br />15 <br />16 It was the consensus of Council to authorize the $5,000 expenditure to purchase and <br />17 decorate a parade trailer. <br />18 <br />19 Economic Development Coordinator Divine added the Anoka County Historical Society <br />20 is willing to put up a City of Lino Lakes display in the lobby of City Hall in honor of the <br />21 City's 50t Anniversary. The Historical Society is also willing to have a booth at Blue <br />22 Heron Days. She suggested the City sell some sort of commemorative item at the booth. <br />S 23 <br />24 Council directed staff to move forward with a City of Lino Lakes display, booth and <br />25 commemorative items at Blue Heron Days. <br />26 <br />27 Mayor Bergeson called for a short break at 9:50 p.m. <br />28 <br />29 Mayor Bergeson reconvened the meeting at 9:58 p.m. <br />30 <br />31 COMPLAINT RELATED TO VFW BUILDING, MICHAEL GROCHALA <br />32 <br />33 Community Development Director Grochala advised the City received a written <br />34 complaint related to the VFW building project. He referred to a copy of the complaint <br />35 dated May 6, 2005. <br />36 <br />37 Community Development Director Grochala advised staff is looking into the complaint <br />38 and addressing the issues. Staff is looking at additional screening to address the noise <br />39 issues and helicopter issue. The complaint regarding the parking lot and garbage will be <br />40 resolved when construction is completed. <br />41 <br />42 Community Development Director Grochala indicated staff would be drafting a letter to <br />43 the VFW regarding these issues.
