• <br />COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 10, 1987 <br />Ordinance No. 2•of the City of Lirio Lakes, Anoka County, Minnesota <br />passed by the City Council on May 24, 1983, is hereby amended by <br />deleting the current language in Subd. 4, Section (4) (G) (i) (ii) and <br />adding the following language: <br />(G) Building Design <br />1. It is not the intent of the City to restrict design freedom <br />when reviewing project architecture in connection with com- <br />mercial and industrial site and building plans. However, it <br />is in the best interest of the City to promote high stan- <br />dards of architectural design and compatibility with sur- <br />rounding structures and neighborhoods. Architectural plans <br />should be prepared by an architect or other qualified person <br />and shall be acceptable to the City Planning and Zoning <br />Board and City Council. The plans shall show the following: <br />elevations of all sides of the building <br />type and color of exterior materials <br />floor plans <br />dimensions and locations of all structures <br />location of trash containers and of heating and air <br />conditioning equipment <br />parking and storage areas <br />landscaping <br />sign location and detail including size and coloring <br />2. All buildings erected on land within the commercial and in- <br />dustrial zoning districts shall be of wood frame, steel, re- <br />inforced concrete, masonry or an equivalent or better mate- <br />rial. No building shall have pole barn type construction <br />nor an exterior wall surface of sheet metal. Exterior wall <br />surfaces of all buildings shall be face brick, glass, stone, <br />decorative block, architectural concrete cast in place, pre- <br />cast concrete panel, or architectural metal panel. Wood may <br />be used as a trim material. <br />3. Pole barn construction and sheet metal exteriors may be per- <br />mitted in all commercial and industrial districts as a con- <br />ditional use under the following circumstances: <br />PAGE 5 <br />(1) The buildings are accessory structures used for storage <br />of boats, lumber and building supplies, and buses. <br />(2) Completion of a sales or office building shall preceed <br />construction of the boat, lumber and building supplies, <br />and bus storage buildings.
