TKDA
TOLTZ, KING. DUVALL, ANDERSON
AND ASSOCIATES, INCORPORATED
ENGINEERS • ARCHITECTS • PLANNERS
August 6, 2001
Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Lino Lakes
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, Minnesota 55014
Re: 2001 Sealcoating
City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota
TKDA Commission No. 12357-01
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council:
1500 PIPER JAFFRAY PLAZA
444 CEDAR STREET
SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA 55101-2140
PHONE: 651/292-4400 FAX: 651/292-0083
Bids for the above referenced project were received on July 24, 2001. The low bidder was
Pearson Bros. at $97,559.00. The engineer's estimate for the project was $87,425.00. The
difference in the engineer's estimate and the low bid can be attributed to a significant increase in
the unit price for trap rock. The price of trap rock has increased over twenty percent from last
year.
Pearson Bros. performed the sealcoating project last year for the City. They completed the
project on time and under budget. I recommend that the contract for the 2001 Sealcoating
project be awarded to Pearson Bros.
If you have any questions or need additional information please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely,
i Jason C. Wedel, P.E.
cc: John Powell, City Engineer
An Equal Opportunity Employer
