Greenways <br />Purpose <br />o Corridors that tie park system components together and preserve natural <br />resources. <br />Service Area <br />and Location <br />o Community -wide service area. <br />o Greenways are integrated with the trail system. <br />Size <br />o Minimum of 50 feet wide (25 feet wide in constrained conditions). <br />o 75 to 100 feet wide is optimal. <br />Additional <br />o Greenways are multi -purposed. The functions of Greenways include: <br />Policies <br />• increase vegetation along trails and paths, <br />• periodically widen off -road trails to create rest areas and overlooks, <br />• provide corridors for wildlife movement, linking habitat, <br />• buffer between land uses. <br />o Greenways are primarily developed along corridors that are also identified <br />for off road trails. <br />Lake Elmo Greenways (2006) <br />None. <br />DRAFT Comprehensive Park Plan 11 13713.000 <br />
