773 Work with the county to address the parking along downtown. There are not enough
spaces, and the roads are very narrow. With people trying to parallel park it backs up
frequently.
774 Do not lose the charm or you will lose the city.
775 Protecting community space in the downtown area will help existing and new
businesses feel more connected to this unique downtown area. Giving people places to
gather informally or for public/private events would be very forward-looking in my
opinion. Then, considering walking and biking trails to connect new residential and
commercial development to the downtown area will make it even better. I hope the
charm of Lake Elmo's history and agricultural small-town feel will be preserved through
intentional design and development. Thank you for seeking our input.
780 no apartments or high density housing...takes away from small town feel
781 Would love to keep smoke shops out of the area
782 Connect the walking/bike paths to better connect established developments to village
785 The moratorium was a very bad idea. Many investors and developers that I know are
skittish about Lake Elmo having two ad hoc moratoriums in two years.
791 It would be great to keep the feel of the small town with updates. No large buildings or
businesses.
794 Thanks for offering the survey!
805 it is suitable for more development, but not haphazard additions. Would be possible to
redevelop all the space that is now storage only or unused along the tracks east of 17,
and east of Lions Park
812 No more housing - we are past the required met council directive. There are more houses
bring built which will add more traffic on already over burdened thoroughfares.
815 Focusing on the dealership to Lake Elmo Inn, remove individual homes, replace with a
large mixed-use commercial and condo building and things to do. City did a great job of
adding Wildflower, Fields at Arbor Glen & Easton Village, plenty of residents have been
added and these are families with good jobs and discretionary income. Now give them a
reason to go downtown, trails to get there, focus on shopping, eating and activities. If you
build it, they will come, but right now it's a sleepy hollow of a town without anything to
do in the Village.
817 Leave what is existing in the old village for homes, the way they are. These people have
lived here for a very long time and deserve to live in the homes they want. For new
homes coming in, they shouldn't look like a large development. It should match what is
already existing.
ResponseID Response
