818 I do not know a lot about the Mayor. I've attended one City Council Meeting. All I can say
is I left the meeting extremely underwhelmed by his lack of enthusiasm, engagement... I
literally couldn't understand him as he mumbled his way through the meeting. Going
through the motions. We need the right leaders for Lake Elmo's vision plan..
830 Please get cohesive vision for turning our town into a destination location. I find myself
using nearby cities to do my shopping and dining instead of my hometown.
833 There are so many young families that have moved in and we love that we are walkable
to the downtown. More places families can go and walk to would be great!
834 Doing planning right will enable us to build something special while keeping the small
town feel that makes us unique. Overall, we need proactive, well thought out planning to
make it more of a cohesive gathering place (restaurants, wine bar, tap room, small green
space, specialty retail, etc.). It should all tie together via a master plan that not only
provides the resources, but in a manner that ties everything together (character, look, feel
culture fit). The opportunity is that there seems to be land to build it "the right way". I
envision walking downtown with ornate street lamps, wine bars, restaurants, coffee
shops, green space, etc. I also suggest leveraging the old Fury Motors lot. I realize there
are costs with environmental clean up there but at some point it needs to be done. Maybe
that becomes a city park that acts like a gateway to the downtown area. To get us there,
we need to invest in more lit up walking and bike paths to make it more accessible. I
envision us to try to make it a "walking community," Note: it's important to keep our
model of no retail chains. This is what makes it special. We dont need a starbucks or
other chains. Let's keep our tremendous character.
836 Moved here for the small town feel - would like to maintain that feel even if more
homes/apartments are built.
838 Keep small town feel and add additional dining & shopping options. Also center for
community ed type classes & senior support
843 We moved out here to Lake Elmo for a small town vibe. Please do not bring Apartments
and multi family dwellings to the area. We moved away from that in MPLS. This town is
great how it is.
855 Get rid of half way house, more police presence, fix Lake Elmo traffic noise and safety
857 No
859 Think of the town in the movie funny farm. Be what they tried to become when Chevy
chase was trying to sell.
861 Thanks for asking opinions!
862 If you're going to develop in the old village, would prefer to see community gathering
spaces such as a rec center or outdoor playing fields. We need to encourage exercise and
team building for our children.
ResponseID Response
