1086 This area has great potential, and I think we need to focus on a mix of
commercial/residential uses that promotes a solid urban fabric and a fun, unique
environment that doesn't exist in many Twin Cities suburbs. In particular, we need to
focus on making Lake Elmo Ave. in the Old Village an area that serves as a community
destination and gathering spot that prioritizes the pedestrian experience, offering a
unique mix of shops, restaurants and services
1087 I think it is important to keep the feel the same. Adding more destinations for people to
come into the area is important, but the architecture and spacing is key to making it
maintain Lake Elmo's charm.
1088 Make it feel like it is the city center. Moving the school away from the city center was a
kick to the face. I get there is development south of the village area and the school
district isn't bound by the city, but we could have tried harder to scout out a location for
them. Anything less than that was a lie or a farce faced attempt.
1089 I love this town and feel we are headed in the right direction, thanks in part to Connect
Lake Elmo. I do feel we can do a much better job of welcoming people to the Village area
through beautification projects, more community events and an expanded
shopping/destination push.
1090 I would like to see some more small businesses in the Village area. I would also REALLY
like to see the Village area safely accessible by bike or walking to all the new housing
developments going up. I DO NOT want Lake Elmo to become Woodbury, where you are
dependent on a car for getting everywhere. Let's try to be more environmentally
responsible, and make this a walking-friendly city, with a place for all the new residents
to walk and get a gallon of milk or a cup of coffee. Make Hwy 14 slow down through the
Village, so that people can cross it safely from the north. I think Bayport is a good model
here, where the highway coming through town becomes the main street and slows down
considerably.
1093 The housing designs that you showed do not fit this neighborhood. Too big - too modern
& and do not preserve the feeling of Lake Elmo. You want to make Lake Elmo into a
Woodbury and ensure that every square foot of land is generating tax dollars. That was
not how Lake Elmo used to be. You are destroying it - not enhancing it but taking it into
this direction.
1094 Facelift would be nice, continue building single family homes
1095 Great places, just needs easier walk ability!
1098 The village could grow to be a pretty cool downtown with more shops and restaurants.
Lake Elmo as whole has done enough new housing developments, we don't need more in
the village.
1099 it used to be a nice quiet town
ResponseID Response
