Reco, Inc. regarding Future Land Use Map in the Draft Comprehensive Plan <br />Attorney Filla has submitted his response to the request of Reco, Inc. to the City Planner to <br />be heard regarding the Future Land Use designation of their property on the corner of I-94 <br />and CSAH 17. This item will be on the March 6 Council agenda. <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS: <br />Mayor Hunt announced there would be a Met Council Rural Issues meeting on <br />Wednesday, 1-3 p.m., Marc Huginen, Chair. The Council asked our City Planner to give <br />an update as to his perspective. <br />Representative Eric Lipman (56B) submitted a bill that would restrict the Met Council's <br />ability to approve Comprehensive Plans. <br />Councilman DeLapp advised the City that David Hartwell who runs Belwin has 1,000 red <br />pines about 10 feet tall that need to find a new home or will have to be cut. The City can <br />have them for the cost of removal. Steven recommended that one or two groups could <br />consider purchasing a tree spade and could plant 1,000 trees along Highway 36, I-94 and <br />Highway 5. The Council expressed concern on the risk in planting 10' trees, the expense <br />to move them and made the following motion: <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Armstrong — to recommend the Parks Commission restart tree planting <br />program for city properties. (Motion passed 4-0). <br />Council member Dunn commented on the wonderful planning presentation by Professor <br />Gunnar Isberg, but it was unfortunate that the new member of the City Council and <br />Planning Commission were not able to attend.
