Council member DeLapp ap6iogized for accusing the City website of advertising the
Grand Opening of the Machine Shed Restaurant. There is another website (lakeelmo.com)
that is a mock of our government website, and they should distinguish themselves a little
better and should make an honest effort to provide information about our City
Mayor Hunt responded we have to be very careful because its easy in the web world to
create a website that looks like somebody else's and use it to push information out. For
every piece of good information on the web, there is another piece of bad information on
the web. He suggested looking into web URL.
12. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
13. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
A. Cimarron Park — Bus Service
Administrator Kueffner reported the portion of Metro Transit Bus Route 63 serving
Oakdale and Lake Elmo and stopping at Cimarron Park will be discontinued on June 9,
2001. Route 294 service will continue. This does not mean that Cimarron Park residents,
who depend on metro transit for their transportation, will have to search for alternative
means of transportation. The Metropolitan Council has developed several new programs
which they feel will provide better and more cost-effective transportation services to the
Cimarron Community. A meeting will be held on Thursday, March 8, 7:00 p.m. in the
Cimarron Park Community room for the interested Cimarron residents and the
Metropolitan Council Transportation and Transit Development staff. If a second meeting
is needed, it will be held at Oakdale Jr. H.S. The Met Council will be placing a notice in
the newspaper. There are residents from surrounding communities that drive to the Park
and Ride lot and use the bus service.
Council member DeLapp asked what do we pay for bus service and requested an
explanation of the tax capacity system.
B. Strategic Planning
The Council was asked to provide a summary of issues it felt should be discussed during
our Strategic Planning session, but Administrator Kueffner has received only one
response.
