7. MAINTENANCE/PARI{/FIREBUILDING: <br />A. Update on Fire Dept. Activities: Chief Malmquist <br />1. Introduction of Ross Chavez, Fire Fighter <br />Assistant Chief Brad Winkels congratulated Ross Chavez for becoming an official <br />Firefighter I and presented him with Fire Fighter Badge #73 and congratulated Troy <br />Bonin, who was promoted to Safety Officer. <br />2. Emergency Lighting For New Squad Car <br />The Fire Chief provided three quotes for emergency lighting for the new squad car and <br />recommended the job be given to Emergency Automotive Tech, (the State contract <br />holder) with its low bid of $3,796.63. The Chief explained everything was used from the <br />old squad car except for the light bar. The Council indicated they wanted to be informed <br />in the very beginning of what the total expenses would be. This is not a budgeted item, <br />so Council approval is necessary. <br />M/S/P Armstrong/Siedow - to accept low bid of $3,796.63, via state contract, from <br />Emergency Automotive Tech, for emergency lighting for the new squad car. (Motion <br />passed 5-0). <br />3. Reflective Markings For New Squad Car <br />The Fire Chief provided a quote ($463.28) from Grafix Shoppe for custom reflective <br />vehicle marking kit for the new 2000 Crown Victoria. This was not a budgeted item, <br />therefore, Council approval is necessary. <br />M/S/P Dunn/Siedow - to approve the quote from Grafix Shoppe for the new custom <br />Reflective Vehicle Markings. (Motion passed 5-0.) <br />4. Foam <br />The Fire Chief has attempted to get some estimated costs for the use of foam from other <br />Fire Departments.. Staff will monitor this cost so an appropriate amount is budgeted to <br />cover this expense. Chief Malmquist reported that other fire departments charge for the <br />use of foam because it is covered under most homeowners insurance polices. The <br />Administrator, Fire Chief and City Attorney will work on establishing a policy for this <br />pass through cost. <br />M/S/P Siedow/Armstrong - to approve the installation of the foam system as presented by <br />the Fire Chief at the last meeting and to closely monitor the costs incurred by the City by <br />using this foam.
