Council member Dunn stated the site plan looks <br />nice, but she is concerned about surface water in this area. She asked if Mr. Gorman <br />could fix the light shining on the flag so it does not light up her bedroom window. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Siedow — to approve Section 520 site plan for site modifications and <br />building additions to Gorman's Restaurant, per plans staff dated June 4, 2002 (Site <br />Plan/Elevations); and July 12, 2002 (landscape island and front setback landscaping), <br />based on approval by previous actions by the City recognizing parking along Highway 5 <br />as existing. (Motion passed 5-0.) <br />G. Presentation to Met Council <br />Planner Dillerud distributed 20 pages of his response to the Met Council's 37 page report <br />and indicated it was better that he respond point by point because the Met Council will <br />not buy the high road. These 20 pages had taken him 15 hours to complete. The response <br />has to be ready by July 20'. The Planner explained he was called by Senator Ann Rest, <br />Legislative Commission on Metropolitan Government, regarding a meeting at 10 a.m. on <br />Monday where the Lake Elmo Comprehensive Plan is on their agenda. <br />The City Planner reported that eighteen parties of the Met Council and three legislators <br />will attend the bus tour. Also taking the tour will be Mary Devine -Pioneer Press, Greg <br />Huff -Stillwater Gazette and five council members. Dean Johnston, Environmental <br />Commission Chairman, will also be making the tour. The bus tour will include Cimarron, <br />the Old Village, Fields 1, 50th street showing the traffic calming design and back to Lake <br />Elmo Avenue and then to Tablyn Park, Parkview Estates, and Inwood Avenue showing <br />them Eagle Point Business Park and down to the service road. Planner Dillerud will <br />narrate tour. The City Administrator and Mayor will welcome the visitors. <br />10. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT: None <br />11. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />A. Finance Director <br />The City Administrator reported Bill Omdahl, the new Finance Director, has accepted a <br />position with the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Mr. Omdahl shared <br />some observations with her regarding the finance department. His observation was the <br />majority of the work is data entry. <br />M/S/ Annstrong/Siedow - to direct staff to make an offer for the Finance Director <br />position to Abigail Grenfell. <br />Administrator Kueffner recommended Tom Bouthilet for the position, who was endorsed <br />by the Auditing firm and Bill Omdahl.
