M/S/P Dunn/Siedow — to direct the city staff to send letters to residents, in the most <br />expedient manner, on these streets advising them the City is considering lowering speed <br />limits to 25 MPH and residents should send their comments to the City within 30 days of <br />the receipt of the letter. (Motion passed 5-0.) <br />B. Plans/Estimate for Wall Repairs to Fire Station No. 1 <br />The City Engineer reported plans have been completed on the wall repairs at Fire Station <br />No. 2. The plans include tuckpointing, brick and block replacement, crack sealing and <br />painting at an estimated cost of about $30,000.00. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Dunn — to authorize City staff to prepare an advertisement for bids for <br />wall repairs on Fire Station No. 1 in accordance with plans prepared by the City Engineer <br />dated December 27, 2002. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />Intersection Lihting: Entrances to OP developments Tana Ridge, Fields and Tamarack <br />Farm off of 50t' streets and 50t' Street and Hwy 5 are dark. Drivers are having trouble <br />seeing entrances and asking for a form of relief. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Dunn — to direct the City Engineer to work with the staff for a proposal to <br />light the intersections of issue along Hwy 5; and to approach Baytown for cost sharing of <br />the lights. (Motion passed 5-0). This proposal will be brought back to next Council <br />meeting. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Dunn — to direct the City Engineer to look at the reflectorized intersection <br />markers at the above mentioned intersections. (Motion passed 5-0.) <br />9. PLANNING, LAND USE & ZONING: <br />A. PUBLIC HEARING: Variance to Permitted Sims; Hilspich & Pechan <br />The City Plainer reported the Planning Commission recommended approval of this sign <br />code variance to allow relocation and modifications to a free standing monument sign at <br />the Countryside Wood Products site south of State Highway 5. The recommendation <br />includes relocation of the existing sign to a point 10 feet from the Highway 5 right-of- <br />way line (15 feet minimum is standard); and modification for the sign to allow a <br />maximum height of 20 feet (6 feet maximum is the standard). The need for the sign <br />height variance was determined after the Commission Hearing Notice had been <br />published. A notice of a public hearing by the City Council for the height variance was <br />properly noticed. <br />Mayor Hunt called the public hearing to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Council chambers. <br />There was no one to speak for or against the variance requested. <br />Mayor Hunt closed the public hearing at 8:01 p.m. <br />LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 7, 2003 <br />
