MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 5, 1975 pg. 2
Jerome Bratsch:Engineer instructed to inspect area and make a recommendation to
council at next meeting of what can and should be done to rectify situation.
Mr. Bratsch to be notified of time that item is scheduled on agenda.
Building Inspector:Lehmann Mushrooms. Verbal. proposals have been made relative to
special use permit & building permit but nothing formal has been received
in the city office.
White Sign has not, as yet, removed the Ambassador Hotel`Sign. Trial date
regarding sign violation is set for August 20 1975.
Mr. W.E.Lund Bldg. insp. related the circumstances under which he directed
Mr. Lund to present his request for a special use permit for a duplex in
an area zoned single family residential to the PZC.
Michael Ferderer:Engineer reviewed letter from Mr. Ferderer advising that since he
had a water problem and nothing was done for him he did not feel that the
Tri-Lakes water problem should be assessed against him in any way. Engineer
agreed with Mr. Ferderer. Engineer recommended that if Lake Elmo had a 6'
x 24" or larger.piece of pipe they should give it to Mr. Ferderer to help
solve his problem, which is not all of his own doing.
High water control is being hampered by additional fill being hauled into the swamp
area east of the Auction Barn on Highway 36 just East of North St. Paul.
Clerk advised to,send letter to Valley Branch Watershed District.
3M - Informational Meeting: Meeting is scheduled for Thursday August 14, 1975 at the
Oakland Junior High School at 7:30 PM. Because of the shortage of time
Mayor Eder authorized to hire Mollie Hedges to prepare release and circulate
to appropriate news media.
Claims: Motion by Councilman Shervheim 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie authorizing
clerk to pay claims 75 0 thru 7W80, Carried 5-0.
Special Meetings:Motion by Councilman Pott 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie to hold
weekly meetings until the high water emergency has expired. Meetings will
be at 5:15 PM on Tuesdays and will be open for general discussion but on
a need basis only. Carried 5-0.
Seal Coating:Councilman Pott explained that a discrepancy exists between the actual
area scheduled for seal coating amd the figure published by the engineer.
34,100 sq. yds. is the project estimate, as published; actual area is
21,497 sq. yds. Variation may result in necessity to renegotiate price
because fluctuation between proposed and actual is greater than 25%
(actually 37%). Decision on what to do will be delayed until after the
bids are received.
Correspondence:Michael Johnson 2001 Lincoln Ave. St. Paul was involved in an accident
in vicinity of 2767 Lake Elmo Ave. on July 23, 1975. Damage to hydrant
necessitated replacement of hydrant.. Cost of hydrant was $360.80, labor
to install was 6 hours at $25.00 per hour - total cost $510.80. Clerk
instructed to bill Mr. Johnson for these costs.
Census: 7 census takers are now conducting the census and initial results should
be available this week. Early count indicates that we are running behind
`, the expected level.
