1-j -14 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE 'ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH THE CITY'S <br />CURRENT POSITION ON THE LAKE ELMO AZR-- <br />PORT. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has received and reviewed the <br />proposed Aviation Chapter of the Metropolitan Development Guide; <br />and, <br />/�"U, <br />WHEREAS, the City remains opposed to any expansion of the Lake <br />Elmo Airport facility. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by City Council, City of Lake <br />Elmo, that the City hereby approves of the Classification of the <br />Lake Elmo Airport as a Minor Airport; and, <br />THAT, The City opposes any further expansion of the Lake Elmo <br />Airport except to improve safety for the current traffic level; and, <br />THAT, The City is in basic agreement with the proposed Aviation <br />Chapter, insofar as it does not conflict with this Resolution; and, <br />THAT, The City expresses its concerns in the following areas: <br />a_ Proper zoning to avoid and control the development of <br />incompatible uses and activities on or adjacent to the <br />land which constitutes the Lake Elmo Airport. <br />b_ Controls for the altitude of planes in the area adjacent <br />to the Lake Elmo Airport so as to prevent safety hazards, <br />noise or other nuisances adversely affecting property <br />adjacent to the Airport. <br />C. Installation of an appropriate control tower or other safety <br />devices for current levels of traffic at the Lake Elmo <br />Airport. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk is hereby instructed <br />to send copies of this Resolution to the Metropolitan Council and <br />to such other interested persons and governmental agencies as may <br />be appropriate. <br />Adopted by the City Council this bth day of December, 1977. <br />THOMAS G.
