SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING, FEBRUARY 23, 1983 -3-
3. STREET REHABILITATION HEARING - CQNTTNUED:
---Helen Fisher, 8139 38th St. N. • lived in the area 28 years,
Opposed the original blacktopping of 38th - do no believe should
have to pay for repair of a street that was forced upon residents
and was poorly done. No traffic on this street - do not feel
it is in a condition that warrants a $1300 per lot assessment.
Opposes the proposal„ - Bordner Gardner Farmettes-
--Gerald Wulfing, 8196 38th St, - If this is done., how will. the
cost be spread out? -Bordner Gardner Farmettes-
A„ City Council. will have to decide, if bonds were purchased,
would likely be a five year minimum pay back,
--Richard. Quinn---:8929 36th St. Ken.ridge Addition - lived at this
location seven years - do not feel bhe street is anywhere near
the condition suggested or in need of the improvement proposed.
Strongly against repairing the road at this time. This is a
dead end road and speeds are minimum,
--Arlyn Christ, 8928 36th St. Kendridge Addition - Read a petition
opposing the proposal and signed by 16 of the 24 property owners
in this addition, Was unable to contact 8 households, but
the petition represents, 2/3 of the homeowners.
-James Kauf_hold, 8780 Ironwood Tr, Tablyn Park -
Q. What happens to the driveways if the pavement .is raised 2"?
A. Blacktop will be thinned out to meet the driveway elevations.
Road will he 2" hiaher than the vards
Q. Many homes..: and driveways are even with or lower than the
existing road. Many of the residents will have water running
into their garages or homes - Also, what about truck traffic,
should the road be improved, that is servicing the new
development to the east - this will just tear up the new road.
A. True the street will be 2" higher - may have to taper the
street at the driveways. Water will run off the road
into the yards because there is no curb or gutter -
This is the way the street was originally designed and
the way the water presently runs. The water will continue
to run as it does now - do not feel it will have any
greater impact than it does now.
The proposed improvement will only strengthen what is
there now. Heavy truck and traffic will only increase -the
present deterioration.
--Lona C, Johnson, 8775 Ironwood Tr. Tablyn Park - lived in this
location when the present road waa constructed. Have a lake in
the front yard because of the design of the road. Existing road
was not a benefit - the proposed improvement will not be a
benefit - feel it will only increase the water problems in her
yard.. Opposes equal distribution of assessment costs - receives
no benefit from the project and has a small parcel. Against project.
--Walt John, 8085 39th St. Bordner Gardner_ Farmettes - No problems
with the street -..one problem area can be patched and seal coated.
Fears taxes will increase - this project will hurt many residents
when it is not necessary.
--George Pletsch, 8685 27th St. Tablyn Park - Objected to the
original street construction, but it was done - only one bad
area. Have not seen much maintenance done on this street -
have not See attempt to patch existing holes. Just need regular
maintenance.
--Helena Soderberg, 8229 38th St. Bordner Gardner Farmettes - road
to her home is fine - notaware of problem areas further down this
road. Opposes any improvement.
