LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING, AUGUST 2, 1983 -3- <br />7. BJURSTROM DAMAGE COMPLAINT; <br />r M/ Morgan/ to install a 20 ft. fence along the noith <br />l property line of Lions Parkas a protective measure for the <br />Bjurstrom home. <br />Councillor Dunn - discussed the alternatives with Larry Bohrer. <br />Engineer Bohrer looked at the area and suggested installing <br />netting, feeling a 20 ft. fence would not adequately protect <br />the home. Councillor Mazzara agreed - felt a fence would act <br />as a-ohallenge to the ball players. <br />Morgan withdrew his motion and agreed with the other <br />Council members to defer a decision until the Engineer gave <br />his report later in the meeting. <br />12. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />D. West Lakeland Candidates to VBWD Board of Managers - <br />Mayor Eder read a letter from John McPherson, Chairman <br />West Lakeland Town Board, requesting Council support of <br />three candidates that West Lakeland is endorsing to serve <br />on the'�VBWD Board of Managers <br />-- Fraser - could not endorse one candidate over another without <br />having some knowledge of their position,on current issues. <br />-- Morgan - suggested sending general letter of support without <br />specifying any one candidate. <br />Eder - knows all the candidates, but does not know their <br />opinion on any of the issues. Familiar with West Lakeland's <br />position. <br />-- Mazzara - not comfortable supporting candidates that are <br />unfamiliar and their position is unknown. <br />-- Eder - noted City's action cah have an impact on the appointment <br />MIS/ Morgan/Dunn to send a general letter of endorsement <br />supporting West Lakeland''s candidates to the VBWD. <br />Discussion - <br />-- Fraser - could not endorse not knowing the candidates or <br />their position. <br />-- Dunn - motion is only supporting the Town Board in their <br />recommendation <br />Motion failed 2-3. Fraser, Mazzara and Eder opposed. <br />13. COUNCIL REPORTS: <br />A. Eder - 125th Anniversary - <br />MayorEder-briefly reported on the August 1 organizational <br />meeting. Celebration will be held on October 15-16 at <br />Tartan High School. A plaque will be placed on the site of <br />the first board meeting, at Sunfish Park or Oakdale's Halfway Hous <br />A booklet of the history of the township is being complied. <br />The Committee is requesting a $500 contribution from the <br />City to help defray the booklet costs. Oakdale and possibly <br />Landfall will also be asked to contribute. <br />M/S/ Eder/Morgan to contingently commit $500 to -the 125th Anniversary <br />of Oakdale Township Committee. The money to come out of the <br />Council Contingency Fund. <br />Discussion - <br />-- Fraser - reluctant to commit $500 of City funds.i Not sure <br />that there is a great deal of resident interest in a 125th <br />anniversary vs a 100 or 150 yr celebration, <br />
