LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING, AUGUST 2, 1983 -3- 7. BJURSTROM DAMAGE COMPLAINT; r M/ Morgan/ to install a 20 ft. fence along the noith l property line of Lions Parkas a protective measure for the Bjurstrom home. Councillor Dunn - discussed the alternatives with Larry Bohrer. Engineer Bohrer looked at the area and suggested installing netting, feeling a 20 ft. fence would not adequately protect the home. Councillor Mazzara agreed - felt a fence would act as a-ohallenge to the ball players. Morgan withdrew his motion and agreed with the other Council members to defer a decision until the Engineer gave his report later in the meeting. 12. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: D. West Lakeland Candidates to VBWD Board of Managers - Mayor Eder read a letter from John McPherson, Chairman West Lakeland Town Board, requesting Council support of three candidates that West Lakeland is endorsing to serve on the'�VBWD Board of Managers -- Fraser - could not endorse one candidate over another without having some knowledge of their position,on current issues. -- Morgan - suggested sending general letter of support without specifying any one candidate. Eder - knows all the candidates, but does not know their opinion on any of the issues. Familiar with West Lakeland's position. -- Mazzara - not comfortable supporting candidates that are unfamiliar and their position is unknown. -- Eder - noted City's action cah have an impact on the appointment MIS/ Morgan/Dunn to send a general letter of endorsement supporting West Lakeland''s candidates to the VBWD. Discussion - -- Fraser - could not endorse not knowing the candidates or their position. -- Dunn - motion is only supporting the Town Board in their recommendation Motion failed 2-3. Fraser, Mazzara and Eder opposed. 13. COUNCIL REPORTS: A. Eder - 125th Anniversary - MayorEder-briefly reported on the August 1 organizational meeting. Celebration will be held on October 15-16 at Tartan High School. A plaque will be placed on the site of the first board meeting, at Sunfish Park or Oakdale's Halfway Hous A booklet of the history of the township is being complied. The Committee is requesting a $500 contribution from the City to help defray the booklet costs. Oakdale and possibly Landfall will also be asked to contribute. M/S/ Eder/Morgan to contingently commit $500 to -the 125th Anniversary of Oakdale Township Committee. The money to come out of the Council Contingency Fund. Discussion - -- Fraser - reluctant to commit $500 of City funds.i Not sure that there is a great deal of resident interest in a 125th anniversary vs a 100 or 150 yr celebration,
