Lake Elmo City Council Meeting 2-7-84 Page 5
Bohrer stated he would like to address the issue, prior to the public
hearing; estimated costs, plan, etc.
D. Review Code Amendments
The staff informed the Council that they would proceed with the
following two code amendments. (1) include a provision in the minor
subdivision section of the code to require applicants to obtain a one
year extension of time from the City Council if all the terms and
conditions of the subdivision has not been met within one year from
original approval; and, (2) to prohibit the placement of the required
second drainfield between the trenches of the first drainfield.
There was no objection from the Council.
E. Other:
Bohrer stated that the Highway Department has finished the
construction plans for the last bit of I-94 construction. They have
sent us the plans for review, but it might be appropriate to ask them
to come in at the next meeting and make a short presentation, and go
over some of the things that are of concern to Lake Elmo. (Handling
of drainage, access during construction, etc.)
7. Council Reports:
A. Fraser: Resolution of Appreciation for retired fire
chief.
M/S/P Fraser/Mazzara - to adopt Resolution 84-21 offering
appreciation and thanks to Bruce Kuettner for his contributions to the
City of Lake Elmo Volunteer Fire Department for his services as Fire
Chief from April, 1979, through December, 1983 and that a suitable
plaque be obtained for or with the Resolution. (Motion carried 4-0)
Fraser further suggested that some type of volunteer fire department
informational meeting be held. To invite representatives from local
businesses and groups in the City to meet with the City Council and
citizens that are interested, to talk about what could be done over a
period of time to make the work of the department better known and to
express appreciation.
Notation was made that there are now only seventeen active members in
the department (an all-time low), and that perhaps this could be a way
to recruit new members.
B. Eder: Snow piles and spring thaw:
Eder stated he had a call from a resident concerned with the piling of
snow in the old village area. Should we have some type of plan if
this became a problem to the area residents?
Bohrer stated he talked with Dave Wisdorf, and that the street
department is planning on opening up the waterway now thru Lion's
Park. They are beginning to plan for the spring runoff. Right now
there is no problem.
