LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES September 17, 1985 Page 5
green acre land within the petitioned area.
There were irregularities noted in the petition, namely, the
signing of one business partner for the other business partners
without showing proof of power of attorney, and a priest signing
on behalf of a church. Even by disregarding these irregularities,
it has been determined that the petition is still adequate.
In April of 1985 the City Engineer provided a maximum cost for
studies on sanitary sewer, water systems and storm drainage to not
exceed $21,500.
M/S/P Morgan/Mazzara - to.approve Resolution 85-3y accepting the
Section 32 Petition and to instruct the City Engineer to prepare
the necessary feasibility studies on the improvements. (Motion
carried 5-0).
B. Public Hearing for 1986 Budget
Pursuant to the published notice, the public hearing was opened at
10:35.
M/S/P Morgan/Mazzara - to approve the Revenue Sharing funds be
allocated for the police contract. (Motion carried 5-0).
M/S/P Morgan/Mazzara - to extend the City Council meeting until
10:45 p.m. (Motion carried 5-0).
The discussion on the 1986 budget will be continued at a special
City council meeting scheduled for September 24, 1985 at 7:00 p.m.
C. Street Light at Jamaca Avenue and Jane Road
Residents have provided a petition for this light and have the
required 35% of the property owners in this area signing this
petition. Mr. Wagner and other residents in the area have again
expressed the desire to get this light in.
M/S/P - Christ/Mazzara - to install a street light on the corner
of Lake Jane Trail and Jamaca Avenue. (Motion carried 5-0).
D. Office Space Committee
Ed Nielsen, Jewel Melin, Richard Coppersmith and Don Duran
presented the findings of the office space committee to the City
Council. Some of the options they reviewed were leasing,
remodeling, purchasing and building. Each councilperson was given
a detailed analysis of expenses for the present lease, Brookfield
II Condo, Brookfield III and building. After their review they
suggested to purchase the Brookfield II Condo rather than lease.
The Council will review all of these options presented by the
committee and make its decision in late 1985 or early 1986. The
Council commended the committee for the work and effort that was
put into this study.
