For cost item no. 5, Backfill and Site Restoration, it was <br />estimated that 130,000 cubic yards of soil would need to be <br />backfilled and compacted on the site for restoration. The unit <br />costs for site restoration were derived from Means Construction <br />Data 46th Annual Edition and experienced costs at other sites. <br />For cost item no. 6, Site Safety, costs were estimated based on <br />a total crew of 50 that would daily personal protective <br />equipment and three on -site safety personnel for implementing <br />proper safety protocol as well as collecting necessary <br />industrial hygiene samples to ensure worker health and safety. <br />These costs were derived from experienced costs at other sites. <br />In summary, the costs for excavating the landfilling and <br />disposing of the contents at other waste disposal facilities is <br />estimated to range from $160 - $200 million depending upon mode <br />of waste transportation. Waste transportation and disposal are <br />the significant cost items involved with this alternative. The <br />total cost estimate includes costs for engineering and <br />contingencies. <br />
