Honorable Mayor and City Council
Lake Elmo, Minnesota
January 10, 1990
Page Three
8. 1990 Sealcoating
In accordance with the City's 6-year Sealcoat Program, another 1/3 of the City's streets
should be sealcoated this year in conjunction with the County's program. This is a
budgeted project.
9. 15th Street east of Inwood Avenue
This gravel road was a source of dust and rut complaints last year due to truck traffic for
landfill testing in the Regional Park and topsoil hauling at Linder's. An agreement was
reached whereby the City would furnish the gravel and the County would do the grading.
This is a budgeted project.
10. Annual Patch and Overlay Maintenance Project
The City budgets about $27,000 annually for small patches and overlays which are
contracted out. These repairs are not large enough to be considered projects like those
described previously but yet are too large for the City crew to handle. This program is
usually determined by the Maintenance Foreman and the Engineer in the spring when the
roads are fully visible.
Action Requested
Items 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 above require no Council action at this time. Items 4, 6 and 7 would
require ordering preparation of feasibility reports if you wish to proceed with a possible project.
Sincerely yours,[,
Larry D. Bohrer, P.E.
LDB:j
