LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 5, 1992 10 <br />8. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT: <br />JAMIE OLSON: <br />Jerry Filla reported that the trial court did not award <br />damages or attorney fees, but did require the city to issue <br />a permit for a 200 sq.ft. sign and some variances and pay <br />$6,331.61 in miscellaneous costs and expert witness fees. <br />The Appellate Court has affirmed the trial court except they <br />have said that we can reduce the fees by $1211.37. They do <br />have 30 days to appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. <br />The Council asked that by the next meeting they receive an <br />update on signs in compliance with the City Code. <br />9. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS: None <br />10. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORTS: <br />A. Part-time help for Parks Department <br />At their April 20th meeting, the Parks Commission <br />recommended that the City Council authorize Mike Bouthilet <br />advertise for and hire one part time summer help at $5/Hr., <br />four days a week for June, July and August to help with <br />mowing the grass in the parks, etc. <br />M/S/P Mottaz/Hunt - to authorize the staff to hire a part- <br />time parks department worker for the months of June, July <br />and August for 32 hours per week at the rate of $5 per hour. <br />(Motion carried 5-0). <br />B. Tennis Court Resurfacing <br />The Parks Commission has recommended the City Council accept <br />the bid from Gopher State in the amount of $3,100 for the <br />resurfacing the tennis court at Tablyn Park along with the <br />basketball court. <br />M/S/P Williams/Mottaz - to award the bid for the resurfacing <br />of Tablyn park tennis court and basketball court to Gopher <br />State in an amount not to exceed $3,600.00. (Motion carried <br />5-0). <br />C. Volunteer Liability Coverage <br />Councilman Johnson stated he was not in favor of buying <br />insurance that does not give us coverage, but felt the City <br />was still somewhat vulnerable. <br />
