( I <br />LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 7, 1997 4 <br />H. Appointments to Planning Commission <br />The terms of Bob Helwig, Carol Monette, and Todd Mathison expired on December 31, 1997. <br />Bob Helwig, and Carol Monette have indicated their desire to be reappointed. The Council <br />received the Planning Commission's attendance roster which highlights the numbers of meetings <br />missed. <br />M/S/P Conlin/Del-app - to appoint Bob Helwig, Carol Monette, and Todd Mathison for three-year <br />terms on the Planning Commission from January, 1997 through December 31, 1999; contingent <br />on the confirmation by Todd Mathison of a desire to be reappointed. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />Council member Conlin suggested the attendance records be sent to the Planning and Parks <br />Commission so they can discuss on how they could have a quorum present of commission <br />members at each meeting and that the members are informed in order to discuss topics and <br />report back to the Council. <br />M/S/P ConliNJohn - to ask the Planning Commission to look at their meeting attendance record <br />and make a recommendation in order to achieve the goal of obtaining a quorum of members <br />present at each meeting. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />Appointments to Parks Commission <br />The terms of Steve Diederichs, Heidi Nietzel, Kes Tautvydas and Judy Blackford expired on <br />December 31, 1996. Kes Tautvydas wished to be reappointed. Steve Diederichs has indicated a <br />desire for reappointment if their isn't a vacancy for the Planning Commission. Heidi Nietzel <br />wished to be reappointed, but will be moving to Duluth in April. <br />M/S/P Dunn/Hunt - to appoint Steve Diederichs, Heidi Nietzel, Kes Tautvydas and Judy <br />Blackford for three-year terms on the Parks Commission - from January 1997 through December <br />31, 1999; contingent upon confirmation by Judy Blackford of a desire to be reappointed. (Motion <br />passed 5-0). <br />M/S/P Conlin/John - to ask the Parks Commission to look at their meeting attendance record and <br />make a recommendation in order to achieve the goal of obtaining a quorum of members present <br />at each meeting. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />J. Appointments to Community Education Advisory Boards: School District 834, 832, and 622 <br />Nancy Hansen is currently the City's representative to Community Education Advisory Board for <br />School District 834 and has indicated her desire to continue in this position. The City does not <br />have a representative for either School District 832 and 622. <br />M/S/P Hunt/DeLapp - to appoint Nancy Hansen as the City's representative to School District's <br />834 Community Education Advisory Board and direct the staff to advertise in the City Newsletter <br />the vacancies in School Districts 832 and 622. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />K. Appointments to Maintenance Advisory Committee <br />This Committee is not covered under the City ordinances and its current members were <br />appointed for indefinite terms. Those members consist of Bill Wacker, Bud Talcott, Dick Johnson <br />and Dick Gustafson. <br />
